A group of astronomers led by Lingyu Wang (SRON Netherlands Institute for Space Research) has now used a sample of over 200,000 galaxies to confirm that galaxy mergers are the driving force behind star bursts. It is the first time that scientists have used artificial intelligence in a galaxy merger study. The results are published in Astronomy & Astrophysics on October 21st.

Go to Source
Author:

Phys.org provides the latest news on astronomy and space exploration.

SPACEPERIUM CORPS & RESEARCH CONTRIBUTORS

Please comment below with research and links for fellow members to conduct further research into this area.
You must be registered and signed into SPACEPERIUM BLOG in order to leave your comment and get credited!

Record-number of over 200,000 galaxies confirm: Galaxy mergers ignite star bursts When two galaxies merge, there are brief periods of…

[1

post-259","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-spaceperium-news
["GET
