We understand the politically correct environment we now live in, but these circumstances were fashioned in a time in which even the victims did not feel comfortable or expedient to come out against their alleged assailants. In the social context which also provided this type of “cover” or “camouflage” for these behaviors, in addition to other salient social “norms”, it is quite disingenuous for society today to act so sacrosanct in condemnation of these individuals at this time. Simply, they were a product of the times. And we do just as we do against former victims of childhood rape (pedophilia) who trapped in their corrupted sense of sexual expression, find themselves today in the same predicament of their past violators, we now condemn the victim and by so doing, we expunge ourselves from any culpability in our failure to stop the abuse earlier and for them.<\/p>\n

Where is our compassion for both victims? Where is our understanding of our own immaturity of the past which shunned any plea for help from any victim and future predator? Our immaturity created the shadows of shame and guilt that forced the victim and perpetrator into the closet of self-loathing, societal bliss and forgetfulness.<\/p>\n

I cry not only for these women and men who were attacked and robbed of their self-determination and innocence, but also for the perpetrator who were once in the same position with the greater misfortune of maturing within a still immature society unwilling to hear and admit the truth.<\/p>\n

I am happy for these victims to have found a public stage upon which to vent free from a socially imposed prison of silence, I pray that they may find healing even though they be scarred permanently for life. What I find distasteful is the society of hypocrites who hide behind the stone throwing masses who themselves have done the same and as they point their fingers toward these targets, hope that their own secret stays hidden.\u00a0 These are they that are as guilty as anyone and are representative of a society that has fostered the wrong attitudes throughout life only to now throw her children under the bus!<\/p>\n
