The Gibson ES 175

As a guitarist and classical composer I can appreciate the great need for good and detailed information about musical instruments and accessories. We spent a lot of time practicing and learning from great mentors, along the way.  But now, that we are doing our thing, where do we turn to find more information we need about makes, models and their inherent qualities?

You know, it’s not only about how you play but also the quality and character of the instrument that is doing the singing for you. Oftentimes, a great composition and performance can be limited by inadequate instruments and/or equipment. It isn’t enough to play your favorite instrument. For some tunes you need the right instrument to bring out the composition’s intended character.  This can make or break a piece!

Someone brought my attention to a nice find on the Internet at http://www.guitar-and-amplifier-reviews.com and, in particular, to their review of the Gibson ES 175.

The Gibson ES 175 has had quite a long history and it’s value to the musician is legendary.  The Gibson ES 175 is all about tone and versatility. It has enjoyed being the best and most used guitar for jazz for many years now.  However, many have used it with great success in other genres, like rock and country, among others. I can tell you that this guitar is just perfect for many performance situations and in a variety of ambiance. It is versatile and fits in well with a lot of new music and is capable of expanding a band’s expression while forging ahead into new music and sounds.

Viewing the site one can find very interesting submissions like the one I found for getting a great guitar for dirt cheap and then just upgrading some hardware along the way. This article would help struggling musicians that want the big boy look but don’t have the money.  Admittedly, this article was an eye opener for me – I never would have thought to do that!
